Equality & Intolerance

Galatians 3:28“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.“ Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsberg recently gave a speech at the New England Law |Boston campus to a group of young female law students. During her speech, designed and delivered to encourage young women in their pursuit of a achieving their career goals, she spoke at length about the importance of choosing the ‘right husband’. Planting Seeds

Seed planting is easy. Patiently believing they will germinate is something completely different. I do a regular bible study with my children on Tuesday nights. It is a great tine to be one-on-one with each of them. I encourage them to share things spiritual, to tell me about their lives since the last week, how God may have been working in their lives, what they may have seen in others, examples they have witnessed etc. Sometimes I get a nugget for two between the three for them, but for the most part it is business as usual for these 11-13...

Family: The Ultimate Test

Luke 4:38Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her. I just shared a quote this weekend with some of my extended family. After doing some research (thanks Lee!), I discovered that I have misattributed the quote to Samuel Clemmons (aka Mark Twain), when in fact it was penned by our beloved founding father Ben Franklin (aka Silence Dogood). The quote goes like this: “Guests are like fish. After three days the both begin to stink.” I had inserted the word...

Be Wary – Be Ready

2 Corinthians 5:5Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. Religion permeates culture. There has never been a society in the annuls of recorded history that did not have a religion. It is inarguable that inside the created man, there is a yearning in one’s heart to seek the/a higher power. Why they seek that higher power could come under a number of guises. Times are hard and we can no longer cope. We go through an event where we suddenly realize that we are not...

Luke 2:46-50 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” 49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”...
